Murmur AI

Private by design

Your voice never
leaves the room.

Murmur was built the awkward way round: everything runs on your machine, so there is nothing to upload, nothing to leak and nothing to ask you to trust.

Nothing is uploaded

Audio is turned into text on your Mac and the text is shaped there too. No server sees either.

Nothing is stored

Recordings are discarded the moment the writing appears. There is no transcript history to leak or subpoena.

No account

No sign-up, no email, no profile. A licence key unlocks the app and that's the whole relationship.

Why it matters

The things you dictate are the things you'd never paste into a website.

Salaries, medical appointments, a difficult message to a colleague, a client's unannounced plans. On-device means those never become someone else's log file.

  • Works with no internet connection at all
  • No analytics on what you say or write
  • Crash reports are opt-in and carry no text
  • Your dictionary stays in your own user folder

Plain questions

Fair things to ask.

Does anything ever get sent?

Only a licence check, once, when you first enter your key. It contains the key and nothing else.

Does it work offline?

Completely. The language models ship inside the app, which is why the download is large.

Can my employer see what I dictate?

Not through Murmur. There is no admin console, no team dashboard and no export.

What about the microphone indicator?

macOS shows its own recording dot whenever you hold the key, and Murmur shows a meter in the menu bar. It cannot listen without both.

Nothing to upload. Nothing to worry about.

£39 a year, every update included, 14-day refund with no questions.
