Murmur AI

The product

One key. Your voice. Finished writing.

Murmur AI is a small Mac app that sits in your menu bar. Hold a key, say what you mean, let go — and the finished version types itself wherever you were already working.

Try it on this page

Press play on a spoken thought and watch the shape it arrives in. This is the same rewriting the app does on your Mac.

You say

One keypress, three shapes. Pick where it's going and Murmur writes to fit.

What it actually is

A better keyboard, not another app to visit

Dictation software gives you a transcript: every “um”, every doubling back, no punctuation, and a tidy-up job that takes as long as typing would have. Murmur AI does the tidy-up. It listens to a whole thought, works out what you were driving at, and writes it properly.

There is nowhere to log in and nothing to check. You keep working in the app you were already in — the only difference is that your hands stop doing the writing.

Five shapes

Same voice, different finish

Pick a shape before you speak, or let Murmur AI read the app you're in and choose for you.

Email

Greeting, the point up front, a clear ask, sign-off. Your phrasing, tidied — not a template.

Message

Two lines, no preamble. For Slack, WhatsApp and the reply you keep putting off.

Notes

Headings and bullets pulled out of a rambling five minutes of thinking aloud.

List

Every action you mentioned, one per line, in the order you said them.

Verbatim

Exactly what you said, punctuated. For quotes, interviews and dictation you'll edit yourself.

Features

Everything in the £39

Hold a key, anywhere

Fn by default, or any key you like. Mail, Slack, Notes, Pages, your terminal, a text field on a website — Murmur AI types where the cursor already sits, so nothing needs copying across.

Speech never leaves your Mac

Recognition runs on Apple Silicon. No audio is uploaded, no transcript is stored on a server, and it keeps working on a plane with the wifi off.

Finished writing, not a transcript

Filler, false starts and “actually, scratch that” are cleaned up. You get the sentence you meant, not the one you stumbled through.

It learns your words

Add client names, product names, medical or legal terms to your dictionary once and they land spelled right every time.

Punctuation you don't dictate

Commas, full stops and paragraph breaks are inferred from how you speak. Say “new paragraph” if you'd rather be explicit.

Quiet by design

No dashboard, no streak counter, no notifications. A small menu-bar mark that pulses while you talk, and nothing else.
